Special Features

  • Remote control: pre-programmed and adaptive system remote control + remote control for the On Screen Menu

Separate Pure Direct for 7.1 External In switchable (green LED lights), so they can use the signals of an AV preamplifier, without a second time to be converted. The max. 7.1 signals are then calibrated via the preamplifier.

  • Without Pure Direct, the analogue signals from the 7.1 input are digitised and pass through the DSP section, including delay correction and subwoofer management.
  • A separate stereo input for pure analogue audio, is switched via Pure Direct (blue LED lights up)

Remarks[edit]

This unit gets extraordinarily warm, sufficient ventilation should be provided. In terms of sound, there will be few other surround amplifiers that come close to this unit due to its fully balanced signal processing. Other models in the same series: This device was an independent development by Yamaha, without having resorted to the amplifier design of previous AV amplifiers. It should be seen as a response to the Denon AVC A1 SE/SR/SRA line, which set the standard for performance and build quality between 2000 and 2003. In terms of amplifier construction, the DSP A 1000/3090/A1/AX1/AZ1 and Z11 should be considered in the same line, the Z9 falls out (for more see the link below). The amplifier was developed by Izumi Ozeki and Hirochika Maegaki of Yamaha and is considered a milestone in Yamaha's 125 year history (2012).
