Reviews[edit]

  • Review in "Fidelity Magazine": [1]

  • JBL Press Release: JBL is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion is reissuing a 1968 classic in a limited edition. The original model was called the JBL 4310 and its later successors 4311 and 4312, and the anniversary edition is called the 4312 SE (for Special 70th Anniversary Edition). In terms of cabinet shape and dimensions, it corresponds to the original from the 60s, but its cabinet has been additionally braced and stiffened, and it is equipped with up-to-date drivers: the bass driver comes from the expensive 4429 model and has a voice coil made of flat aluminium wire. The diaphragm is coated in white, as was once the case with the original. The midrange is handled by a driver with a polymer coated cellulose cone and a light textile surround, and the tweeter has an aluminium-magnesium alloy cone and a sound guide. Treble and midrange can be adjusted on two knobs. Each pair of JBL 4312 SE is accompanied by a certificate with the individual serial number. Unmistakably emblazoned on the side panels of the box is the huge JBL logo - "as befits a real man's speaker," writes JBL. The price: 2,880 euros per pair.
